EC is pleased to announce the successful completion of the project within forecasted timescales.May 6th 2009The new factory is based in Petrosani, 150 miles North West of Bucharest.It provides 12000 sq ft of ESD protected manufacturing floor space.It is set up for dedicated cell manufacturing and complements facilities in the UK, providing a comprehensive range of services.Services covered include Cable Assembly (including Looms & Harnesses), Surface Mount and Through Hole PCB Assembly and Full ' box build ' Product Assembly.The new factory will continue working to internationally recognised IPC workmanship standards and is fully ISO 9001:2000 approved.Manufacturing services are fully supported from the UK in terms of procurement and kitting, logistics and administration.The local line management is Romanian covering production and quality and reports directly to our UK Operations Director.Phil Simmonds, EC's Managing Director, comments:' We are determined to move our business forward in the current economic climate, despite the current down turn in demand for Electronic Manufacturing Services world wide.The new factory sustains our ability to offer UK OEM's highly competitive pricing at low risk.The combination of low cost European cell manufacturing, with full back-up from the facilities and processes available in the UK, is proving attractive to OEM's.It will provide a platform to maintain the development of our key customer partnerships. Its larger manufacturing floor area enables us to compete in the market place for new business and fulfil our growth plans for the future.The additional capacity places us in a strong position to cope with the up turn in demand for EMS from UK OEM's, which we believe will happen over next 12 - 24 months.
