E346021       UK      |    Romania    |   Hong Kong   + 44 ( 0 ) 1256 461894 Copyright EC Electronics Limited 2010 News February 2010 EC installs a new fully automatic SMD line in its Romanian factory in Petrosani. 12th February 2010 Bill Green, EC's Commercial Director Comments: ‘ In the summer of 2008 we upgraded out SMD line capability with the purchase of Philips Assembleon equipment for our UK operation, based in Basingstoke. We have been very pleased with the performance and reliability of this equipment and  as a result decided to  make an additonal investment in Philps Assembleon equipment to upgrade the surface mount line at our Romanian factory. The installation of the new Philips/Assembleon equipment mirrors our UK operation, therby creating redundancy in our SMT capability across the Group. It also enables us to support our developing business strategy, which is to focus on higher batch size applications at our Romanian operation. The new line delivers highly accurate component placement and improved pick rate speeds , incorporating  automatic pick correction, zero-touch component pick, continuous component check, board warpage correction and artwork alignment. It provides a great deal of application flexibility by supporting a wide range of component sizes and feeder options. The system looks for the position of the feeders and auto-corrects for pick positions and pick-up heights. In addition, the new line can handle more feeder trolleys providing the option to configure batches offline, saving time on job changeovers and improving yield.
